Over the last several weeks, Americans have stayed home, and businesses have closed their doors to prevent spreading COVID-19. As a result, you may have had to delay your routine appointment with your dentist in Louisville. Now that the country is reopening, you can get the dental services you need, but is it safe? Remmers Dental understands your concerns. Although dental offices are already some of the cleanest places, we’ve implemented several additional steps to keep your safety in mind.
1. Personal Hygiene Standards
Personal hygiene is essential for stopping the transmission of coronavirus and other pathogens. This involves more than just frequent hand washing and using an alcohol-based sanitizer. Instead, you’ll also notice our staff is wearing their long hair pulled up. They are also leaving their nails short and keeping their jewelry and watches at home to minimize any potential for cross-contamination.
2. Personal Protective Equipment
Personal protection equipment, like masks and gloves, provide a barrier between our team and our patients. This prevents both parties from exposure to the virus. In some cases, we may even use a face shield. Although gloves and masks are important for preventing COVID-19, we ask patients to leave their gloves outside of the office to avoid introducing pathogens.
3. Social Distancing
Social distancing is important for keeping everyone healthy, which is why we’ve created a virtual waiting room to limit your exposure to other patients. You will call into our office from the parking lot to let us know you’re ready for your visit. After a brief pre-screening, you’ll be escorted to our clinical area.
We are also spacing appointments out to keep fewer people in our office at one time. This also gives our staff more time to focus on other matters, like cleaning and disinfecting.
4. Cleaning and Disinfecting Protocol
We use a CDC-approved instrument sterilization standard to keep anything that goes in or near your mouth disinfected. In addition, we are cleaning and disinfecting the office after every patient to prevent spreading the virus.
We are also keeping the air you breathe clean. We’ve added HEPA-grade filters in our HVAC system. You’ll see stand-alone air cleaners in the operatory areas of our building.
Our office has also installed plastic guards through the office to block the movement of airborne particles, which are cleaned regularly to prevent the presence of the virus in our facility.
